With the whole HIMOINSA Racing Team setting their sights on Baja Aragón, this week Dani Oliveras will take on Red Bull Romaniacs to continue with his Hard Enduro calendar, which is bringing great results in 2016. Dani is in great shape and ready to continue his preparation for the Raids in the second half of the year.
Sibiu, in the heart of Romania, will host the 2016 edition of Red Bull Romaniacs. After 12 editions, this race has earned recognition as “the toughest Hard Enduro in the world”, with 5 days of competition and a 654km course which is only expected to be completed by 60% of the riders.
As it is common in this type of races, the competition sets off with a wild Prologue through Sibiu’s city centre. On Tuesday, the first day of the race held several heats for each category, which will qualify each top 35 into their final. Fifteen impossible obstacles will open the gates to the Romanian hell, and they they will be something to watch out for.
Following this, four days of exhausting competition await the riders, with a GPS guided cross country course: canyons, rivers, unthinkable hillclimbs, forests, mountains and even rooftops, all these accompanied by tight time limits every day, which will put riders’ backs against the wall. The second day will be the shortest, with barely 133km, but undoubtedly the toughest and most demanding of the whole event. The added times througout these five days will determine the final overall classification.
Once more, a great competition with the highest level, which Dani will tackle on his KTM 300 EXC and with the support from Zona Paddock KTM.
Dani Oliveras (@danioli21): “This is the race among races in Hard Enduro. For me it will be the fourth event of the season, and we are very excited to arrive in Romania. We know it will be very demanding because they are no less than 5 days of racing and we are sure that we will face almost everything. We were able to train a lot and already have great experience accumulated throughout this season, so we are hoping to have a good race.
The truth is that I am facing two brutal weeks, because right after Romaniacs we will come back home to race the Baja Aragón alongside my teammates, my first raid of the year. It will be really hard, but it is what we need to complete my training for Dakar 2017.”
